I am curious as to where everyone lives. I want to know how the place that everyone lives affects their lives and helps shape their personal experiences and why. I'll begin with where I live-- I live in El Paso, Texas, second biggest state in the United States. So here are facts I found so you can learn more about where I lived and also I have lived here for basically all my life.
El Paso is located in the westernmost corner of Texas, right where Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico come together.El Paso has 248 square miles in area, making it the fourth largest city in Texas, and 22nd in size in the United States. The Rio Grande River is one of the longest rivers in North America and acts as a natural border between the United States and Mexico. It travels 1,900 miles from the mountains of Colorado (and through El Paso) to the Gulf of Mexico. El Paso is an important port of entry to the U.S. from Mexico. The climate is usually anywhere from 83 degrees to 115 degrees on the hottest days. if we're lucky than it might be less than 80 degrees but usually never colder than 60 degrees unless it snows and is night time and it hardly ever snows maybe for a week out of the year and more if again we're lucky. Other than the heat the mountains are all around the city and protect the city from crazy storms and weather like tornadoes so our weather is actually very very stable and we never have any crazy out of control weather except for some intense rains very rarely only one time has a crazy flood occurred here during my whole life and it still wasn't all that bad in itself. El Paso is basically a desert, and is in fact where a lake or the ocean used to be, you can find seashells on the mountains when you hike.
Before El Paso was nicknamed the Sun City, the city was known as the Six Shooter Capital because of its cowboy ways.
El Paso is a true slice of the Wild West. El Paso Street is the city’s first and oldest street. It’s old enough to have seen the likes of Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid among others from the lawless days. It was also where the infamous “Four Dead In Five Seconds” gunfight occurred. You see a lot of people dressed up with cowboy hats and boots even today and going to Mexico is only about a 20 minute drive from El Paso and going to New Mexico is only about a 30 minute drive so this is a pretty neat border town and you meet a lot of people because of that dynamic.
Also the biggest military base in the United States is here and drives most of El Paso's economy, so you do see a lot of people in military outfitting as well.
Here is a picture of El Paso at night, this star is on the Franklin Mountains which is the largest sustained mountain range in Texas, which also has tine mines some of the only tin mines in the whole United States. I live a few minutes around the mountain away from this star. Hope you have enjoyed can't wait to learn about where you live.
